Message from the President
Dear teachers, friends, and colleagues,
It gives me immense pleasure to communicate with you through this medium. At the outset, let me thank all of you for entrusting a responsibility of president's post of Maharashtra IADVL.
Planning for the year long academic activities is done well in advance and some of the programs are already through such as Leprosy community program at Nanded and SIG Trichology program at Aurangabad under the able leaderships of Dr Dr Joshi-Patodekar and Dr Rachita Dhurat respectively.
I am glad to inform you all that one of the most favourite programs of our branch is PGCon, which is to be held this year at the D Y Patil medical college in March. Dr Sharmila Patil will be conducting the program. I request all postgraduate teachers, students across the state of Maharashtra to participate in large numbers in this excellent educative program to build confidence in the exam-going PGs, while facing the final exams.
One of highlights in this year's program is the International Mentorship Program by none other than the father of modern dermatosurgery, Dr Lawrence Field, at the Asian Oncology Institute in collaboration with K J Somaiya Medical College. Drs Vinay Saraf and Shital Poojary have put in a lot of hard work in organising it. Dr Field and the organising team would be demonstrating various basic surgical skills to the participants in order to inculcate surgical interest in dermatology.
I am making an attempt is to offer an opportunity to various peripheral branches to showcase their organising and academics skills alike. Thus, we have planned CME activities at Jalgaon in June, Nagpur in July, Pune in August and Kolhapur in October. Our current managing committee has representation from most of the districts in Maharashtra. Therefore, let us try to make Maha- IADVL be a pan-Maharashtra organisation in its true sense!
Our practicing dermatologists' meet will be in September at Daman. I have myself visited and confirmed that the venue is one of finest destinations for our activity. I am sure, this will be one of the memorable mix of academics and picnic.
As for the Cuticon 2015, we have decided to choose a venue outside Mumbai to give an opportunity to Nashik Dermatologists Association. Express Inn Hotel is a nice place to conduct our meeting and I expect it to be an academic feast with the participation of various national and international faculties.
Dermazone west 2015 is slated to be at Udaipur in this year in the month of October.
One of challenges before us to organise Asian Dermatology Congress in October 2016 and I am glad that Dr Vinay Saraf and his team is doing great work. This is expected to be a grand event with participation of delegates all across Asia and is certainly an honour for our branch to host the event.
Dr Ameet Valia and his team are doing a great work while re-defining SOPs in our constitution. This will go long way in serving the association.
We are also planning to organise state-wide community programs and other programs of social importance to dermatology community.
I humbly appeal to all our members to actively take part in each of these activites and make them a great success. I am looking forward to nominate our branch for the best branch awards with our dynamic secretary, Dr Shital Poojary, who is backing me up so well. I cannot forget that all this can happen only with blessings of seniors and whole-hearted support from you members.
